Wednesday, June 26     RETURN TO THE UNITED STATES

All too soon, your vacation has come to its final day. Transfer to Dublin Airport in good time to check in for your flight. You may do some last minute shopping at the duty free stores before boarding your aircraft and flying back to the United States.

Tuesday, June 25     DUBLIN AT LEISURE

Today, set off on a scenic cruise on Dublin Bay to view Dalkey Island, a small uninhabited island and important historical site with evidence of continuous pilgrimage settlement. Dalkey Island is a sanctuary for wildlife including a heard of goats, coastal birds as well as various fish in the surrounding water. After, enjoy the balance of the afternoon at leisure to explore Dublin on your own. Later in the day, you might like to freshen up before tonight’s farewell festivities. In the evening, enjoy a dinner of Irish specialties followed by a lively show of traditional Irish music, songs and displays of step-dancing.

Monday, June 24     MOON RIVER CRUISE

Leaving Westport, drive into Carrick-on-Shannon and embark on a Moon River Cruise. While on board enjoy the breathtaking scenery associated with the River Shannon. After, continue your travel through Ireland’s rolling hills into Dublin. Upon arrival, set off on an orientation drive around Dublin city center. See the main thoroughfares of O’Connell Street, Nassau Street and some lovely public parks as you pass by many historical sites. Motor a short distance to your hotel, check in and settle into your room. This evening, you might like to dine in one of the city’s lively dinner venues.

Sunday, June 23     ACHILL ISLAND TOUR

After breakfast, set off around Clew Bay, through Newport and along Curraun Peninsula to reach Achill Island, joined to the mainland by a bridge. Follow the Atlantic Drive to capture wonderful and wild scenic views of steeply sloped mountains plunging into the shimmering Atlantic Ocean. Return to your hotel in Westport for an evening at leisure.

Saturday, June 22     CONNEMARA SIGHTSEEING

Departing Galway, travel through Connemara Region to admire the sweeping views of boglands and misty mountains. As you drive along you will see many sheep that graze freely and tracts of bogland where some people hand-cut peat for home heating. Stop to visit Kylemore Abbey for a tour of the elegant mansion and church, set beside a tranquil lake. Learn of the tales of tragedy, romance and royal visits. Also, walk through the magical Victorian walled garden. Continue your drive into Westport, check into your hotel and settle into your room. In the evening, have dinner in the hotel restaurant with your fellow travelers.

Friday, June 21     ARAN ISLANDS & DUN AENGUS

This morning, set off on a short ferry ride from Rossaveal to Inis Mor, the largest of the three Aran Islands. These rocky islands are renowned for the hardy islanders who maintained traditional fishing and farming. The Irish language is still spoken widely. Next, take a minibus ride to Dun Aengus, a huge pre-historic fortress perched on sheer cliffs, which fall away to the Atlantic Ocean below. Have a look around Kilronan before heading back to your hotel in Galway. Spend the rest of the day at leisure for individual sightseeing, shopping and dining.

Thursday, June 20     CLIFFS OF MOHER

Leaving Killarney, journey into Tarbert and take a short ferry ride across the River Shannon Estuary. Next, drive along the coast of scenic County Clare and stop to visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most beloved, natural landmarks. See magical vistas, overlooking the shimmering Atlantic Ocean along with Ireland’s Western coastline. Then, continue into Galway and join a local guide for a gentle walking tour of the city. See the medieval city walls, Lynch’s Castle and the narrow streets. Transfer to your nearby hotel, check in and settle into your room. This evening, meet your fellow travelers in the hotel restaurant for a delicious meal.

 

DINNER & OVERNIGHT:  GALMONT HOTEL, GALWAY

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19    DINGLE PENINSULA DRIVE

Today, discover the beauties of the Dingle Peninsula, once described by the National Geographic Traveler as “the most beautiful place on earth.” Drive along the south shore of the peninsula for plenty of vistas of heathery mountains, sandy stretches of beach, stunning green landscapes and rocky headlands. Pause at strategic locations to admire the views and take photos. Continue on to Slea Head at the western tip of the peninsula. This excursion will give you excellent views of mountains and coastline and looking over to the Iveragh Peninsula. After, journey into Dingle town and stop to enjoy some free time to explore the area on your own. Head back to your hotel in Killarney, where the remainder of the day is free for independent activities and dining.

Tuesday, June 18     CLIFDEN TO KILLARNEY

After breakfast, travel through Ireland’s green pastures into Ennis and stop to have lunch with your fellow travelers at a local venue. Then, continue your journey into Killarney, where you will meet with the rest of your group to continue with your tour. Next, head to Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen to enjoy lunch with your fellow travelers along with one drink per person. After, continue your journey into Killarney, check into your hotel and settle into your room. In the evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome drink followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Monday, June 17     CROAGH PATRICK

This morning, journey to view the conical mountain of Croagh Patrick, which is a popular place of pilgrimage where people can climb to the summit. Tradition maintains that St. Patrick fasted here for 40 days. Head back to your hotel in Clifden, where the balance of the day is free for independent activities and dining.

Sunday, June 16     INISBOFIN ISLAND

Today, drive into Cleggan and set off on a boat ride to Inisbofin Island, a small just off the coast of Connemara. The Island is home to “Dún Gráinne”, the remains of a fort used by the legendary Pirate Queen, Grace O'Malley. While here, enjoy time at leisure to explore the magical Island on your own. You may like to spend some time on one of the many award-winning beaches, view the Island’s historical ruins or visit the Inishbofin Farm to learn about daily farm life. You might also like to take in the stunning Island scenery on a loop walk or biking excursion. Later in the day, head back to the mainland via boat before returning to your hotel in Clifden for a free evening.

Saturday, June 15     DUBLIN ARRIVAL

After landing at Dublin Airport, complete customs and immigration formalities. Your CIE Tours driver/guide will welcome you to Ireland and escort you and your luggage to the coach. Next, drive into Athlone and stop at Sean’s Bar, Ireland’s oldest Pub, to enjoy a drink with your fellow travelers. Continue through the Irish countryside into Clifden, check into your hotel and settle into your room. In the evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Friday, June 14     DEPART THE UNITED STATES

Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight across the Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you travel to start your vacation.
